Since May 2018, all Kennel Club Licensed Breed Clubs are now subject to data protection compliance, and must show how they will deal with data.

Our Privacy Notice and Retention Policy lays out in simple terms what we will be striving to achieve.

GDPR Privacy Notice

1. Introduction 

1.1. The Hungarian Vizsla Society is committed to protecting your personal information and respecting your privacy.

1.2. This Privacy Notice sets out the basis on which any personal data that we collect from or about you, or that you provide to us, will be processed by us.

3. Data Protection Principles 

We will comply with data protection law. This says that the personal information we hold about you must be:

1. Used lawfully, fairly and in a transparent way.
2. Collected only for valid purposes that we have clearly explained to you and not used in any way that is incompatible with those purposes.
3. Relevant to the purposes we have told you about and limited only to those purposes.
4. Accurate and kept up to date.
5. Kept only as long as necessary for the purposes we have told you about.
6. Kept securely.

Publication of Members Data.

New Members or Re-joining Members
Your personal data will be collected, processed and stored as detailed in this Privacy Notice.  The data will be managed so as to comply with the 6 data protection principles.  See our “Retention Notice” for how long the data is held.

Entries to shows/events; 
Publication of names and addresses of exhibitors and competitors is necessary for a number of reasons;  for enforcement of regulations, to act as an identifier to distinguish between similar names and to allow breeders to make direct contact for breeding programmes, for certificate issue and for posting/marking up awards on clubs and society and Kennel Club records for the respective dogs.

We recognise the importance to provide the option for the exhibitors or competitors to withhold contact details from being published.

Judges Lists.
It is necessary to promote Judges for availability for appointments.  So an application to be placed on the Hungarian Vizsla Society Judges list will be on the basis that personal details and contact details are included.

Year Books and Similar publications.
We will always make a consideration as to whether members’ data can be published and made freely available.   Publication in a Yearbook or similar publication will be on the basis of consent obtained to publish contact details. 

Data needed for Contractual Necessity.
Where your data is processed as being necessary to the performance of the Hungarian Vizsla Society Membership Contract, and to provide and manage membership services including transactional communications.

Data needed for legitimate interests

Your data may be used where related to the activity of membership and which members might reasonably expect – such as newsletters, invitations and information about club events, meetings and so on.

Data for which your consent will be required.

The Hungarian Vizsla Society will not engage in marketing by using your personal data without your required consent.  We will not pass on or share your data to third parties who would use it for “marketing” purposes.

Instances where the Hungarian Vizsla Society may or will share data.

We have a lawful duty to release personal data, to statutory bodies or Law Enforcement, if served with the appropriate Notice under the Data Protection Law, which will also show us why the data is being required and for what purpose.  In those cases we may not be under any duty to inform you that we have shared that data, if those lawful requirements are met.

From a Breed Welfare situation, we are in partnership with Vizsla Rescue, (charity No. 1162862) the Hungarian Vizsla Welfare (Charity No. 1147353) Also the Hungarian Vizsla Club and subject to adherence to statutory regulation, we will respond to the sharing of data with those organisations, where it can be shown it will improve the welfare of the Vizsla, or prevent further abuse of the Vizsla or contribute towards safeguarding.  We may also exercise discretion in sharing data with regulatory local authorities involved in animal welfare licensing.
