Critique

HUNGARIAN VIZSLA SOCIETY 37TH SINGLE BREED CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW SUNDAY 23RD APRIL 2023

Thanks to all exhibitors for their entries, it was interesting to see the difference in the breed since judging them last time. It saddens me, knowing how hard the doyen’s of the breed endeavoured to improve the breed. Fronts for example, are not good at present in some cases – complete lack of pro sternum, sternum, lacking depth of chest.

However, I was pleased with the winners, some very good young ones showing lots of promise.

MPD (4ENTS)  

1.WARNES – DEBIAN DEERHUNTER- 8 months old, good head, length of leathers, reach of neck, good depth of chest stood over his ground well for one so young, movement was good, as was his tail set.  Shame to have met Puppy Dog Winner today I am sure they will change places sometimes.  Good type shall watch his progress.

2.  MILNER – IVYVIZBRIDGE JUST THOMAS – 9 months promising young dog, good head, eyes to darken, good coat. Firm top-line and tail set, good outline when stacked. Chest still to drop -time is on his side.  Sadly, movement was a bit erratic, dare I say handling fault.

PD (8ENTS 1ABS 1W/HELD) 

1.WALLS-PERLLANSIDE STREET PARTY -Very eye-catching young man, pleasing head and good reach of neck flowing into firm top-line when moving, colour was fine, but the thing that took my eye from the start was his lovely feet. Eyes to darken not an uncommon fault in a young Vizsla.  Shown in good hard condition and well handled. BPD & BPIS.

2.REAKES-VIZSLANYA VARUR – Lovely dog. Good reach of neck, into good shoulders, flowing into firm top-line. Good forehand. Moves well.

1. CAVAYE – GOVIZ SPRING TIDE (AI) – Nice head. Good length of leathers. Good back end and turn of stifle. Good depth of chest. Moved well both coming and going.

2: SENIOR –FELDKIRK MOON RIVER – Pleasant young dog, showing promise. Moved well for handler. Firm top-line on the move.  Good coat. Still a lot of maturing to do.

ND (8ENTS 2ABS)

2. DEAR – ALDOM DOUGLAS FIR – Good head planes, pleasing coat colour. Moved well. Good stifle, moved off on good strong hocks. Good tail carriage. A pleasure to go over.

1. UNDERDOWNS – BITCON JACKPOT AT BARATJA – Good head, nice dark eyes. Good length of leathers. Strong neck. Good top-line. Stood on excellent feet. Moved well. Would prefer more depth of chest. Handler could do with getting the dogs head up a touch more

2. DOLMANS– ZEBEC FRANKEL – Nice head. Ears framing face sympathetically. Good reach of neck firm top-line. Moved out well. Super tail carriage both moving and standing, set on correctly.

Limit Dog(5ENTS)

1. RUTHERFORDS – KINCSEM ITS NOW OR NEVER – Good forehand and good depth of chest. Beautiful straight front when travelling towards me, strong top-line on the move. Pleasing head plains, ears a good length framing the face sympathetically, good eye. Correct spring of rib. A pleasure to go over. RDCC

2.  BRADLEYS – HIGHFORCE ALL OR NOTHING – Another good male put down in good hard condition, good head proportions, correct length of muzzle.  Good reach of neck into firm top-line, correct slightly slopping croup which allowed for correct tail-set.  Thought he would be my winner to day, but sadly moving a bit too close behind for my liking.

3. CARTERS – FACANVADSZ ANDRIS

Open Dog (9ENTS 2ABS)

1. CHALLIS –VIZSLANYA ARAGONIA – Lovely male dog, Nice dark eye. Nothing exaggerated or out of proportion, a medium sized Vizsla.  Correct length of leathers

 Moved very well for handler. Good tail carriage. Took my eye when he entered the ring. This kennel has been producing correct type vizsla’s for at least 30 years.

2. PORTER-MANNING & PORTER – WALLAROO HAWK EYE JW – Liked this boy well-toned muscles, looked like he could do a good day’s work.  Strong neck flowing into high withers into firm top-line.  Moved very well, always a pleasure to see handler and dog moving as one.

3.KIELY’S – GUNFIELD PHANTOM.

VD (5ENTS)

1. TOWNSEND – SH CH DAXPACK RISKTAKER RAINSCOTE – have always admired this dog, looking really good for eight loads of ring presence, again dog and owner are in complete harmony.  Good head, kind dark eye.  Good reach of neck, good lay of shoulder high withers.  Good front assembly, plenty of heart room excellent depth of chest and spring of ribs. Moved out well for his handler, firm top-line.  He is a good Vizsla, a showman, eight years old and carrying a tad too much weight today, but still could not refuse him BVIS and BOB.  A pleasure to have gone over you at last.

2. CHALLIS – HIGHFORCE FUTURE LEGEND FOR VIZSLANYA JW ShCEx – very nice boy, 7years old and looking exceptionally fit.  True Vizsla type, lovely dark eye, correct head plains, elegant reach of neck, high withers, good front and rear assembly.  Loved his rich coat colour.  

3.HARRIS’S – SZAJANI SZEDER

FIELD TRAIL DOG (3ENTS 1AB)

1. HARRIS’S-SZAJANI SZEDER- looking fit and well, very good head and reach of neck, in fact, good all through dropping his topline When stacked, probably handler’s fault.

2. CARTERS – FACANVADASZ ANDRIS – shown in condition, good head and reach of neck well made all through, moved well.

MPB (4ENTS)

1.BELL MRS & MISS – SYLVESTRE’S HOT STUFF a feminine little girl, in possession of elegant head and reach of neck. Moved well for her handler, good tail set. Shall watch her progress with interest, has the makings of an elegant bitch.

2.HARDCASTLE & BRADLEYS – CASTLEDOGLEY FIRENZE – Another pretty young lady, in my notes I have written lovely head just 6 months old, difficult to assess all of her attributes at present. Moved okay for such a baby it could have been her first shown, so she did well. Nice type.

3.SENIOR – WALLEROO ZENDAYA.

PB (7ENTS 1ABS)

1. MRS & MISS L ELLIOTT – VIZSLANYA PAFRANY FOR ZINNIAVIZ RBPIS–   Good head, kind expression good length of leathers.  Correct shaped eye.  Pleasing forehand assembly – and rear. Good coat colour and texture.  Good feet, moved well, both coming and going away.  Slightly up on the leg at present, age is on her side.

2.CHALLIS MR & MRS – VIZLANYA VIZI – Pleasing Head, kind dark eye, really same comments more or less apply as No.1. This Kennel has been producing good typey Vizslas for over 30 years.

Junior Bitch (7ENTS 1ABS)

1. COOMBE – AMARABTOS BELLARIA AT CASTLEFIELD – Elegant appearance, dark eye, good head and clean reach of neck flowing into firm topline, maintained when moving. Drove off well from correct hind assembly, liked this bitch a lot.

2. GOVIER – GOVIZ SPRING BOUQUET (AI) – At the top end of height scale, which could be a disadvantage, but for me she had a super top-line both stacked and moving, good clean neck into high withers, which was lacking in some today but, not in this young lady. Well angulated back end moved well.

3.MRS R WARNER – NORDFIELD DESERT GOLD.

YEARLING BITCH (11ENTS 1AB)

1. GOTTLIEB’S – RUSSETMANTLE MAIA(AI) – Good head, ratio of muzzle correct, good length of leathers set on correctly more or less level with eye.  Eye a good colour and shape.        

Elegant neck flowing into high withers and firm topline correct tail set.  Just floated round the ring on good feet.  She reminds me of her Aunt Cala, whom I admired greatly.

2. RUTHERFORDS – KINCSEM FERRARI – Liked this girl also, good head furnishings, strong, elegant neck firm topline good tail set.  Front assembly also good, stood on good feet, drove off from strong hocks, this young lady is correctly made, good depth of chest and spring of rib.  Have a feeling on occasasion one and two could change places.

1. HOWE – LAYWAYS ANNIE MAC – Lovely bitch shown I good hard condition, typical Vizsla head good length of ears, good reach of neck correct front assembly, i.e., and sternum and prosternum, excellent depth of chest and spring of rib, tail carriage good on the move.

2. DI CESARE – HIGHFORCE I FEEL FREE – pretty bitch feminine head, good neck and shoulders, chest reaching to elbows, good angulation both fore and aft tail well set on.

1. FISHLOCK’S– AFANLIEGH ANNA – Very attractive bitch, good colour and coat texture. Good neck. Her head was super feminine. Shown I good hard condition, firm top-line and correct tail set.  Moved well correct good front extension, a pleasure to go over thank you for giving me the opportunity. Reminded me of the Vizslas I used to know.

2. GREGORY – BLUEMOVES DAKOTA AT SEVENSDEN – good head-furnishings nice dark eye soft expression. Good coat colour and texture.  Good body proportions.  Moved okay.

Open Bitch (5ENTS 1ABS)

1. RUTHERFORD – KINCSEM SARISKA- Super girl encompassing both elegance and substance

Typical Vizsla Head, good eye shape and colour. Strong neck into well laid shoulders, good return of upper arm.  Good forehand and depth of brisket.  Balanced throughout, moved well balanced throughout. RBIS& BOIS

2. HARDCASTLE & BRADLEY – VIZSLANYA ZSIENA JW – Another one looking good for her age.  Very feminine head, correct head plains, super dark brown eyes. Good neck and adequate lay of shoulder.  Moved well both coming and going.

3.C.WARD -DANTON OBSESSION WITH TANTARAVIZ.

Field Trial Bitch (2ENTS 1ABS)

1. WALL – CH PIROSEG MANDARIN OF PERLLANSIDE JW – Shown in excellent hard condition. Good head, strong neck firm topline, good forehand, stood on well boned legs over plenty of ground.  Nice girl. BFTIS

Veteran Bitch(3ENTS)

1. BRADLEY– SH CH VIZSLANYA VIVMANY BY HIGHFORCE JW ShCM ShCEx VW, looking good for 8years, credit to her owner.  Nice head, good head carriage good proportions all throughout, an elegant bitch.

2. RUTHERFORD – KINCSEM ENNA LLATSEW – I see she was born 2013 which makes her 10 looking great for 10.  Moved well, still not bad topline good condition all through, must get good correct exercise.  

3. BELL – GLASLLEB SKYFALL – born 2012 another cracker for her age, super head and good all through proportion wise.
