LAST YEARS TEST
The Hungarian Vizsla Society held its annual working test on the 29th of May at Over Worton, Oxfordshire by kind permission of Mr and Mrs Richard Schuster and the Over Worton Shoot.
As usual, Skinners Pet Foods generously sponsored the event and provided vouchers from 1st to 3rd places in all three classes. Due to the large entry, several Judges were appointed to ensure the smooth running of the day and thanks must go to the following judges for willingly giving their time.: Huw Kirby (Puppy, all tests), Penny Simpson (Novice Hunting), Cliff Simons (Novice Retrieve 2), Sue Harris (Novice Retrieve 1), Peter Szalai (Novice & Open Water). Steve Robson (Open Hunting and Retrieve 2) and Jim Field (Open Retrieve 1). Each judge had a steward and at least one dummy thrower making for a full complement of volunteers from the Over Worton and committee members. There are too many to mention by name but suffice to say, your support on the day is really appreciated and without such support, these events could not take place.
With each class having four individual tests, the day was full of activity with plenty to keep all fully occupied. Conformation judging was again performed by Ruby Field of the Deepthatch kennel, giving competitors from the working side of HPR’s the opportunity to have their dogs assessed for conformation by a CC award giving show judge.
The day was finished at a reasonable hour with the prize giving and in the absence of our host, the prizes were awarded by the HVS Chairman, Lyndsey Townsend. Judging by the laughter and smiling faces of the masses still there at the end of the day, a good time appeared to have been had by all. The placings in each class are listed below, but should anyone wish to receive a print out of the full marks awarded to each test then please send an email to: email@example.com or firstname.lastname@example.org and I will forward them on.
On a final note of thank you messages, Richard & Rachel Herbert along with Jim Field were hugely instrumental in not only offering this ground to the HVS but also in contributing significantly to the team effort both before and also on the day, many thanks to them all.
On a final final note, I have myself been organising this event since 1997 with Jean Robertson joining in the organisation of this annual event not long after that. We are now looking for someone to take over the running of this event, with support of course. If there are any volunteers that would be willing to rise to the challenge, please…..get in touch.
Thank you to everyone for entering and supporting this event and good luck for the remaining WT Season .
