Feedback from the Webinars on Buying a vizsla puppy

Rhiannon O’Neill - London.
We received invaluable guidance during the session. We found an assured breeder and we are now very happy owners of Chester who is 17 weeks old. I already had a good grounding in how to find our new puppy and breeder - you filled in some gaps and gave me more confidence in our puppy purchase.

Tamsin Fry - Hampshire
I found the webinar extremely useful and would recommend it to anyone interested in getting a puppy.  I picked up a few contacts from the call, and ended up going to a Gun Dog training day to see what it was all about.  That day also allowed me to meet more Vizsla owners, and get more contacts.  I also thoroughly enjoyed the day and it confirmed that this is something I would like to do with my future dog.
I am currently on a waiting list for a puppy and will find out in a few weeks if I’ve been lucky enough to get one.  I feel far more prepared, educated and well connected and that’s all down to the Hungarian Vizsla Society.

Mace and Melissa Tallack -  Northamptonshire
My wife and I found the session really valuable and gave some really helpful key points.  I made notes during the session to which I refer back to.  One of the key ones being the importance of hip scoring and continued breed health.  I wonder if some key bullet points in a web-link might be useful?

We have not managed to secure a puppy but are hopeful through a suggested contact from a currently local Vizsla owner and also Champdogs website.  We are waiting to hear further on a possible puppy.  To be honest we are happy to wait and get the right dog and feel that sticking to the HVS suggested key points is the right way to go.

Tess Wall - West Midlands
As one of your webinar members I am very pleased to confirm that we were successful in getting our puppy. Below is  Lincoln (11 wks old).

I definitely think that the HVS advice helped, that and some amazing luck Played out too. We took time to get recommendations for specific breeders and approached them regarding potential litters and waiting lists, def following your advice. We had no expectations of getting a puppy this year, but wanted to be firm in our choices for a breeder maybe next year. However, we were extremely fortunate that one breeder we approached had a litter due and after many discussions and interviews we accepted and were accepted to have one of her pups.

Also important to note that the breeder maintained her costs despite some of the massive increases that have occurred recently, which was also very confirming that we had a good breeder.

Paula Parker, Cheshire
I found the webinar really helpful and it assisted to clear my thoughts about priorities when looking for a breeder. No puppy yet.

Lizzie Horvath, Warwickshire
Chris and I probably attended the first webinar you run and we gathered some very valuable information helping us to prepare to welcome a puppy.  Interestingly, it wasn't just about finding and securing a puppy, but some important tips around exercise, how to increase it gradually, playing in the water - never thought that could be a problem, but great to know about safety concerns - and lots of other things.
The current situation in the UK makes it very difficult - and expensive - to find a puppy within these borders. However, the information from the webinar added to our confidence to search elsewhere and most importantly to ask all those important questions from the breeder once we found one.  Our new Puppy he will be arriving on the 2nd of November and we couldn't be more excited. I've attached a photo - just because I think she is absolutely beautiful!
It does feel like being the member of the HVS gives us a solid backdrop we can count on for advice and support and that is invaluable. If I may add, it would be worth advertising HVS more widely, as they would be beneficial to a lot of current and prospective vizsla owners. I'm sure if the social media posts were set up in a way, we could share them, a lot more people could benefit from being a member and taking part in these webinars. It might be useful to reach out to existing members and ask them to spread the word - I for one would be happy to.

Once again, my feedback summary: lots of good advice and tips - absolutely worth attending!

Helen Mayhead - Hampshire
We now have a pup and he is 12 weeks old on Thursday. Perseverance was the key, ringing the breeder regularly to show my commitment to wanting a puppy.

The webinar was very interesting especially around the bloodlines etc. It did make me dig a bit deeper into it rather than just buying any old puppy. It turns out (Affix) does not have any reported VIP in the bloodline but another breeder who I had been in contact with did!

As per our conversation not so long ago, we did get bumped by somebody who was clearly just looking to make as much profit as possible out of the litter and not taking into account suitability. It’s a shame there are a lot of opportunists out there at the moment

Sarah Jane Kane, Cheshire
Myself and my husband attended earlier in the year, and we chatted for two hours. We learnt so much. Though we had carried out lots of research on the breed there were many things about buying a puppy we didn’t know. It really gave us an insight into breeders, what to look for, health scores, over breeding etc and what to be aware of. We learnt where to look and what questions to ask. And we have been amazingly supported (by you).

Sadly, we don’t have a pup yet. Though the market picked up, I can’t find my way through the maze. We have contacted around five reputable breeders cold, but no responses. I have engaged with a number of adverts (as you know) but often the question about KC names of the sire and damn results in silence too. We were hoping that next year would be better, but new lock downs may stifle that hope.

Not out of the game, but maybe a little down.
Update 23/09/2020 I have identified a litter on Champ dogs due in October. Fingers crossed.

Darren Baylay - Manchester
Yes we managed to get a puppy from (Affix) in Scotland
We are so happy, although our little Franco is a bit of a handful, but we love him dearly. Here is  a pic.
The webinar we attended was fantastic and well worth it.
