All 2020 Shows are now cancelled latest information as of 11th August 2020
Update on our 2020 championship show arrangements
Our Championship Show could not proceed on Sunday 5th April 2020, and on the 16th March 2020 we gave notice of its cancellation ahead of Government Lockdown from 23rd March 2020. We asked the Kennel Club to re-licence the Championship Show to Sunday 1st November, 2020 as a holding of the Event. We recently published an update in the Breed Notes of Our Dogs.
In recent weeks there has been some relaxation of the government guidelines, with more expected in August, particularly in relation to sports halls, conference centres. and places of hospitality.
There is anticipation that Bournemouth and Blackpool Championship Shows will proceed with a raft of countermeasures to ensure everyone's safety. They are both outdoor venues, whilst ours remains a sports hall venue..
The Sports connexion are awaiting some precise guidance, before they can open their doors, but are willing to work with us to ensure a safe event, if regulation allows. Currently indoor events attract strict social distancing, and hall occupancy of no more than 30 people at a time, in the same way that supermarkets limit the number of people in store.
Clearly with one way systems, in the front door and out the back, and reduced social distanced seating, and lots of compliance with risk assessments and current guidance, our Championship Show may be possible - if supported by lots of helpers as well as exhibitors complying with the extra measures. Facemasks are likely to be obligatory.
Given the activity at the moment around negotiations with Bournemouth, and Blackpool further deliberations and advice expected from the Kennel Club, We will learn from their experiences. and await further direction expected by the Event Hosts the Sports Connexion, a decision will be made shortly.
Your Show Team are working tirelessly to keep up to date with all requirements, its is a quickly changing landscape and have lots of countermeasures planned to protect you, but we don't intend to make any announcement as to whether the Show will go ahead or not until it is clear that many of the unknowns have been dealt with and advice from government and the Kennel Club is clearly understood.
So this update is to seek your patience with your Hungarian Vizsla Society Show Team, for a few more weeks, at which time we will know whether we will be permitted to operate the Show to strict guidelines, or whether all issues cannot be mitigated.
We will update you, when a decision has been made, in plenty of time for you to make on line entries should we proceed. If it does so it will be an event which will need your full understanding, in order to keep everyone safe.
If it is not possible to manage all concerns, we will cancel rather than have you attending a situation which is not safely managed. Hearts and minds are working for you.
Thank you for your patience.
Update dated 22nd July 2020.

Ever since I can remember I wanted a dog. When I was 10 years of age I recall watching Crufts the year that the English Setter won BIS. At a local pet show I fell for the Irish Setter. I attended as many shows as I could get to, including SKC in 1979, where we looked at many breeds but my mind was set on an Irish Setter. My parents were not doggy, but had relations with Pekingese and Corgi’s. I eventually got my first dog, an Irish Setter, in 1980. I was lucky that many people offered me lifts to shows and at local ringcraft I first got to know the German Shorthaired Pointer. After much persuasion, I got my first GSP in 1984. He won his first CC at 9 months of age, then became a champion and won a group at a Champ Show under the late Bobby James. When Marion and I set up home together our dog family grew. Not least being asked to handle a Weimaraner bitch for a first-time owner. A tremendous partnership ensued and she won 44 CC’s, ten groups and is still the only Weimaraner bitch to win Best in Show at a general Championship Show. I made up five generations of Champions from her. In 2002 we acquired a Welsh Springer, who became a Champion and produced the current Breed record holder, Ferndel Aeron Magregor To date, we have owned /bred 22 champions over 3 breeds, and won over a 170 cc’s. I have always believed in giving back to our hobby, so have been involved with organising shows, at all levels, for many years. I first judged in 1984 and I am now passed for all Gundog breeds at CC level, and the Gundog Group. I also judge Toys, Hounds at championship level. I have had the honour to judge at Crufts six times and look forward to Judging the Gundog Group at Crufts in 2023. I have judged in numerous countries including Australia and the USA. I think it is a tremendous honour to Judge a breed Club championship show and look forward to judging for the Hungarian Vizsla Society. |

I was 3 days old when I went to my first ring craft class, since then i have handled dogs, taught ring craft, taken breed seminars, assisted show committees, judged Junior handling, learned to groom dogs, and participated in good citizen schemes. I Enjoyed participating in junior handling and the famous finals when I was younger but soon realised I preferred showing in the breed rings. I started my career showing pointers then soon fell in love with Hungarian Vizslas to which I have made up several champions, my first when I was only 15 years old.
I have campaigned in the UK and throughout Europe to CC and CACIB level and obtaining BEST IN SHOW 3 at the international dog show in Slovenia and many groups wins. I was extremely lucky to have the chance to move abroad to Croatia to work with a successful show handling & grooming team as an assistant . This allowed me to travel throughout Europe to shows handling and preparing dogs for the show ring in Croatia, Serbia, Greece, Germany, Macedonia, Montenegro, Holland, Luxembourg, Belgium and many more countries. Along the way I assisted in making up 2 of our own bred multi-champions. I also gained valuable experience in dog grooming and handling particularly long coated breeds which allowed me to come into my current profession.
I am delighted to be asked to judge the Special Awards classes at the Hungarian Vizsla Society Championship Show 2020 and I am so looking forward to my day!
